Hello,

Happy New Year!

I know you will have already begun new stitching projects for 2010 but I'm sure you will still be interested in seeing the latest patterns from our talented designers that have arrived in store over the last couple of months.

If you have been considering making a full size quilt but are a little daunted at the prospect and don't know where you will find the time (or the money), why not commit to one of my block of the month quilt programmes in 2010. Block patterns are sent monthly for you to work on and many of the quilts can be easily made using fabric from your stash. Having a larger quilt broken down into manageable monthly projects means you are more likely to complete the stitching in your chosen time frame, and the cost is spread over a longer period. I am happy to answer any queries about my block of the month programmes from both my local and overseas customers.

Read on to find out more or visit the quick links below.

New Block of the Month Quilts

Down in the Garden

by Leanne's House

This month I have added Leanne's House new block of the month quilt Down in the Garden. It is fabulous and I have earmarked it to start myself in 2010. I have been receiving lots of enquiries from those of you following the quilts progress on Leanne's Blog who are itching to get started. If you love stitchery, little bits of appliqué, and machine piecing your blocks, this is the one for you. Please place your order now and I will notify you when the patterns will be available to send out.

Bronwyn Hayes

Two gorgeous new patterns designed by Bronwyn Hayes are hot off the press. Both patterns feature the ever popular Red Brolly girls. The Angel Apron pattern offers two great designs using either appliqué or stitchery and will enhance your domestic goddess status in the kitchen for sure. The Sweet Project Bag is a great little bag for storing all your needful items in and comes with instructions to make a matching needle case. It is always handy to have a pattern like this on hand to whip out on a rainy day or to call on when you need a little project to make as a gift for a friend.

New patterns have been added from In Stitches, Cinderberry Stitches, Lynette Anderson, Janelle Wind, Rosalie Quinlan, and Melly & Me.

Christmas Swap

Thank-you to everyone who participated in the 2009 Christmas Swap. We ended up with 137 registrations. Like every year it was a mixed bag. I heard some wonderful stories of gifts exchanged and friendships made along with tales of woe from a few disappointed stitchers. If you would like to write a quick note about your experience please do so in the Swap Experiences Guestbook. I have also set up a Great Global Christmas Swap (GGCS) flickr page for you to post photos of your gifts to share with everyone.

The Great Global Christmas Swap information flyer has been updated for 2010 to print off and take along to your next quilt guild meeting or stitchers get together.

The Christmas Ornaments pictured were made by Joan from South Dakota in the United States for her very appreciative swap partner Katrina in Auckland, New Zealand.

The Gingham Girls

Please feel free to visit this page and join our group if you are a Bronwyn Hayes fan. I have added a few new photos recently. I am still working on joining my Gingham Girls blocks together and will continue to add to the discussions and post photos as I go. If you have a photo of a Bronwyn Hayes creation you have stitched we would love to see it.

Coming soon!

Block of the Month quilts: Advent Angels by Rosalie Quinlan, Sublime Season from Cinderberry Stitches and The Flower Pot People designed by In Stitches.

More patterns from Country Cupboard, Desiree Simpson, The Janelle Wind Collection, Hugs' n Kisses, Rosalie Quinlan and Melly & Me.

Discovering Blog Land

If you have a spare 30 minutes once a week it is well worth taking a trip to 'Blog Land'. A growing number of designers are now writing regularly updated blogs displaying photo tutorials, giving away free patterns, and just sharing the inside story behind new and developing patterns. It is fascinating and a great medium to communicate directly with your favourite designers. Here is a list of the designers with blogs whose patterns I supply in the fionamarie.com store. If you ever find a pattern from one of these designers that I don't have on their pattern page I would be happy to order it in for you.
